More Than an Activity
Participants are supported to:
- Build confidence in group settings
- Strengthen communication and social connection
- Develop routine and engagement over time
- Participate within a consistent and supportive environment
Our focus is not simply attendance, but meaningful participation.
A Creative Pathway to Participation
Our programs currently begin through rhythm-based group experiences incorporating movement, voice, shared participation, and creative engagement.
Participants engage at their own pace within a structured and supportive environment.
As the program develops, participants may continue into additional creative pathways including singing, movement, and performance-based experiences.

KNOX Community Arts Centre
Current group sessions now welcoming enquiries and trial participation.
Macleod Community Hall
New group forming. Expressions of interest now open.
Participants may join at different stages, with early participants building the group together over time, and later participants benefiting from an already established and supportive environment.
NDIS-Aligned Supports
Programs may align with participant goals relating to:
- Social and community participation
- Confidence and communication
- Emotional regulation and engagement
- Routine and connection

The Creative Arts Society is offering people of all-abilities, (including people with intellectual, physical, psychosocial, and sensory disabilities, acquired brain injury, and neurological impairments) the opportunity to develop and express their creativity through drumming.
Drumming for All-Abilities
At The Creative Arts Society, we use authentic West African rhythms in our lesson. They sound fantastic and are fun to play!
We have places in our regular Wednesday afternoon session at the Knox Community Arts Centre, and, in our Thursday afternoon session at the Macleod Community Hall. In this session, students learn authentic African rhythms that we use in performance. Students are invited to be part of our performance group ‘The Drummers from the East’ for different events during the year. There are two levels for students. One session will tell us which one will be best for you.
The lesson costs $35.00 per session. And Casual rate of $40.00 per session.
Online Drumming Lesson

Workshops and Short Courses
As well as one-off workshops, we offer 3, 5 and 10 week short courses.
Get Your Own Drums
There are so many different kinds of drums in the marketplace today, and plenty of general information to help you choose one. If you have special needs however, choosing one that is right for you, may need a little more thought. We are more than happy to consult with you to help you figure out what will work best for you. You pay for a drum once, but you will play it everyday. Be happy with your choice!
For your convenience, we also have a range of quality drums you can choose from. Message us to arrange a time.
